  • 1996 Grand Marquis, great car - 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. 204,000 miles and I still have the original transmission, water pump, alternator, air conditioner, fuel pump, no engine work and only 3 sets of tires. I still get 26 mpg on the highway. A really great car. The only complaint I have had was that the intake manifold broke at 170000 miles. It was made out of plastic. It was replaced with a revised model. Ford should have performed a recall on this.

I bought this car brand new. Its the biggest car I have ever purchased. I have driven Cadillacs, Town Cars, and Buicks and I can tell you this car is equal to any one of them. It is a pleasure to drive.

I have had 3 Grand Marquis. A 1985 that I drove to 250 K! A used 1990 that I drive to 200K. The last car was a used 1996 and in has 98K on it. No problems a good solid cars. 2011 is the last year. This was a great car from a generation ago, well built, cheap to run, and it will be missed by me.

I have been very satisfied with this car. I get just as good gas mileage as my sisters 6 cylinder, but I have much more power and room. The insurance on this car is so low! I sustained very little damage when I was struck from behind by another car. The fuel shutoff worked just like it was supposed to work.

  • Id buy it again! - 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

I bought this car off the showroom floor in 1996. It now has over 82,000 miles on it and has had no major problems. I drove it from NY to Colorado in 1999 with a fully loaded trunk and 2 dogs in the back seat. The car runs smooth and quiet with plenty of power. I like it because it has lots of interior room and the seats are very comfortable. Im definitely considering buying another Grand Marquis when the time comes to replace it.

  • Excellent vehicle for the american road - 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

In simply two words the car is "Bullet proof". Purchased used with 56K, drove it 90K on one set of tires with no need for wheel alignments and tire rotation. Acceleration is excellent and its quiet, roomy and comfortable. Now at 183K miles it looks and runs like a new car. You would never know that it has high miles on it. I average 21.9 MPG in combo driving and it can take a beating, being driven 100 miles every day to commute. Recently took it on a road trip 3000 miles in 4 days and it ran flawlessly at around 26.5 MPG.

This is the fourth Grand Marquis Ive had in the last 6 years. I now own 2 and will be purchasing my 5th in the next year. I do a lot of cross country driving and you just cant beat these cars on the used market for comfort and handling. Mine has 120,000 miles and runs like the day it was new.

Had the car for 7 years and no major problems. Only thing was BOTH side view mirrors went out at the same time. Quite costly to replace.
